Master the full spectrum of infection control, including hand hygiene, PPE usage, sterilization, disinfection, biohazard handling, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards, and CDC transmission-based precautions.
You will learn how to clean, disinfect, sterilize instruments, and maintain a safe clinical environment.
Specimen Collection, Phlebotomy, & Diagnostic Testing
Theory of venipuncture, capillary puncture, specimen labeling, order of draw, quality control, pediatric and adult urine collection, cultures and smears, and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing including flu, strep, glucose, HCG, hematology and chemistry tests.
Learn chain-of-custody protocols, incident management, and proper sample documentation.
Electrocardiography (ECG/EKG) & Cardiac Testing
Prepare ECG equipment, position patients, place leads, troubleshoot artifacts, obtain ECGs, and support Holter monitoring.
Learn cardiac anatomy and rhythm interpretation principles.
Medication Administration & Pharmacology
Understand medication classifications, dosage calculations, seven rights of medication administration, and legal requirements for medication storage, ordering, and documentation.
Perform medication administration via oral, IM, SQ, and ID routes (excluding IV), as well as vaccine administration.
Medical Office Administrative Skills
Develop essential administrative competencies such as reception, scheduling, telephone etiquette, electronic health records (EHR), documentation accuracy, and patient education.
Learn billing basics, insurance verification, claims processing, medical record management, inventory, correspondence, and office safety.
